About The Blog:
“But the one who endures to the end will be saved.” Matt. 24:13
There was a time when I didn’t want to endure. I was running a race, but I wanted to give up. My gaze was not fixed on the things unseen. I felt my troubles were not small but more significant than I could handle. The Lord grabbed ahold of me at my lowest and reminded me that He “. . . will comfort those who mourn, bringing words of praise to their lips” (Isaiah 57:18). This blog is about the journey to see the joy I now see before me in Jesus Christ. It is about a deep desire to share that joy with fellow despondents and sufferers through my writing of what I have tasted and seen as true about God. The title of this site is a nod to a great preacher and author, Zack Eswine, who wrote to fellow weary hearts about another great preacher, Charles Spurgeon, who also preached magnificently to the suffering. I want to encourage my readers to press on, keep running, and remember that Jesus is better.
“Remember, it is not starting that wins the race – it is running all the way.”

“. . . And every day, as we enjoy this fellowship, he shows me glimpses of his greatness and his beauty and his worth: the very things that I was made for. I was made to see and enjoy God in his greatness, his beauty, his worth. And you know this is true. . . You were made to see and enjoy greatness and beauty and worth and love. Everybody was. God is the sum of all greatness, and all beauty, and all value and worth, and all love. And he lets us enjoy him through his word, and through his world, which also reveals his beauty and greatness. And when I face the ugliness and the sin and the suffering and the disasters of the world, he reminds me of spectacular promises that I will one day be with him — free from all pain, all sin, all depression, all discouragement, all anxieties — in a brand new, magnificent body.”

Hello, my name is Kayla, and I live in the Austin, TX, area with my husband of almost 4 years, Matt, and our dog, Biscuit. I am a believer in the resurrected Christ, and I have a deep love for Jesus, who abides in me and displays His grace and love in a multitude of ways. I attend The Austin Stone church and have been worshiping there since 2020. I am an okay musician who began a career in music education teaching orchestra in various public schools for about 5 years. I am no longer teaching, but I enjoy fiddling around on my violin and mandolin and listening to all genres of music. I enjoy reading and writing immensely and hope my words can bring others small bits of joy throughout this life.
